I realized it's been a while since I shared some GIFs, so here's some to look at.
Here's the snail from one of my earliest posts patrolling his little hill. The GIF capture software refused to be consistent with the frames it captured, so the animation looks rougher than it will be in game. Yeah, he's animated to turn around so that they don't just about-face when they hit a wall or reach an edge. Every enemy is animated this way, except for ones that look the exact same way forward as they do backward. More work to make them turn around? Yes. Looks better that way? Damn straight.
Again, the GIF capture software messed with the frames, and some of the pixels in this recording, but that's ok. Here's the main character swinging his wooden sword. The range is short, I know, but don't worry about that too much. If you go back to some of the other screenshots, you may see what I did to compensate for his short arms.
