(Was a two-part post. Got split into a second post.)
Here is my list of highlights for the last week:
-Fixed a problem with enemy vision cone.
-Game now employs a currency system.
-Gun stat screen now contains all stats for the game's first gun.
-Player can now pick up items dropped by an enemy after killing them.
-Fixed a bug that was allowing the gun to go off when the inventory closed and the game returns to playing. Time wasted: 5 Minutes.
-Fixed a bug that was causing the game to become confused and crash when the "return to inventory" button was pressed. Time wasted: 30 Minutes.
-Bug fix revealed a problem where the game searches for the player character while the inventory is up and crashes due to the player character being inaccessible while the inventory is open. Time wasted: 1 hour.
-Fixed a bug that would cause enemy-dropped items to 'respawn' after being picked up. The amount of time this took was worsened by the fact that the actual enemy instance is inaccessible when taking items off their body. Time wasted: 4 hours.
(For those of you wondering why we sometimes have to delay our games, this is why. My total time spent fixing bugs that day was over 5 and a half hours.)
-More assets created, but cannot be shown due to spoilers.
-A dialogue system is now in the works. The dialogue system will have a dialogue tree, much like Mass Effect, but with more options and less emphasis on a morality system.
-Character display screen is almost completely finished. Just one little bug stands in the way.
I'm planning on moving away from test sprites to prepare for the tech demo. Not really looking forward to having more animation work stacked on my plate, at the moment, though...
