A whole day wasted just trying to get a special effect working, and I still haven't worked the kinks out of it. If anyone tries to tell you game development is easy, mock them relentlessly.
My total progress has been very little, due in part to that special effect, and trying to work the one last bug out of the enemy AI engine I had built. Long story short, I was unsuccessful in fixing the AI. I'm afraid I'm just going to have to try and rewrite the engine. The worst part? It's the only enemy in the game that would have used the engine. No worries, though. When I rebuild the AI engine, it should hopefully be more adaptable to the other enemy AI types I'll be programming.
